Noted for his interpersonal skills, contacts and extensive experience in executive level recruitment and support in the public, private and voluntary sectors, Mike Phillips is among recruitment's most respected specialists.
He began his career in IT at BP, then moved into IT recruitmentat Myriad. He proved especially skilled at developing and maintaining client relationships.
'I enjoyed doing work with clients over a long period of time.'
Then came a move to PWC. 'They were growing their public sector area, and their IT and HR area, so I brought lots of consultants into the organisation.' He transferred into PWC's search and selection area and worked on a range of central government appointments and helping the business to grow rapidly.
Next came the successful leadership of Veredus' London organisation, and then three years running the London office for Gatenby Sanderson - an operation that grew from about 12 to 70 people under Mike's stewardship.
He set up Pentir in 2008 to offer a service driven organisation that is as much about people as it is about flexibility. 'The key for me is that Pentir is about helping organisations develop capacity - be it through strategic advice, coaching and development, recruiting, or filling roles on an interim basis.'
