Wates Construction Group
Wates is a family-owned company that puts old fashioned values in a modern context. They believe that buildings aren’t just collections of bricks and mortar; they are for people who will use them, so above all they need to be about people.
Wates have many years of successful experience designing and building primary, secondary and further education institutions. When they got involved in the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme they identified the need to work with a partner that would give them a more focused approach to the environments they would be creating in which young people learn and teachers teach.
Working closely together, Pentir Talent Solutions have provided the Wates team with strategic advice and guidance to support their BSF programme. Advice provided ranges from understanding the impact of educational initiatives such as the new Diplomas, the 14-19 Strategy, continuing professional development and workforce reform. It also extended to ICT and the types of learning spaces required to provide a world class learning environment where young people can be certain of reaching their full potential.
Steve Yazdabadi – PFI Director Wates Construction said:
“Working with Pentir Talent Solutions has given us a new insight. We now have a greater understanding of what the impact on learning is in the buildings we produce. We approach things differently now as we are more informed of the educational requirements for the buildings we construct. Not only do we understand the language of education we can talk it as well. Pentir are easy to work with; they are the bridge between education and construction and provide us with a distinct advantage. George Gyte and Tom Atkins worked with Wates on our first BSF bid and played a significant part in securing preferred bidder status”
