The Henrietta Barnett School (HBS) is a non-denominational grammar school for girls aged 11-18 and became an Academy in April 2012. Founded in 1911, it is consistently judged one of the top state schools in the country and has an exemplary local and national reputation for academic excellence. It was named the Sunday Times’ Parent Power State School of the Year 2023
Reporting to the Headteacher, The School Business Manager is a pivotal member of the Senior Team and has responsibility for the key areas of Finance, Premises, Human Resources, ICT, School Administration, Fundraising, Compliance and Governance.
The challenge here was to deliver a shortlist of real quality and satisfy expectations that were really high. We needed to really understand the priorities and challenges of the role given its breadth.
Pentir conducted a full search and supported the advertising. We carried out preliminary interviews and worked with the Headteacher on devising a two way assessment process which allowed the candidates to “size up” the school as well as the other way around.
