Northwood School is a high performing school in Hillingdon with a long track record of success. It is part of a local academy Trust. We were engaged to assist with the appointment of a new Headteacher and find a successor for an individual with seven years of success in post and a difficult act to follow.
The Governors and Trust were clear that it was important to appoint an individual that would build on the success of the school and lead further improvement. There were a number of key stakeholders in this case and it was important to build confidence in the school. Our briefings included meetings with Trust Leadership, Governors, Senior Leaders, Middle Leaders, staff and students.
A combination of headhunting and targeted advertisement was used to generate the best possible field of candidates. Working with the Trust and Governors, we produced a high quality information pack which clearly presented the proposition.
We supported an assessment centre which involved the main stakeholders in the decision making process and then supported and attended the final interviews with Governors and Trustees. The establishment of relationships at the early stages of the process was key to the smooth running and two-way process that candidates experienced. The Trust had a choice of appointable candidates in the end.
