Appointment of Headteacher and Interim Support

Rainham Mark Education Trust (RMET) is a Trust of 3 schools undertaking a period of change and development. At it’s heart is Rainham Mark Grammar School with over 1300 students aged 11 – 18.

To assist the organisation through a period of development, Pentir provided support at SLT level deploying an experienced and emotionally intelligent school leader for a fixed period of time to help steer it through, but also to bring expertise from outside the Trust to complement what already existed.

The key was always to appoint an individual who had a style that could flex and fit with the existing context yet would also recognise where changes needed to be made. We then went on to appoint a permanent Headteacher. Again, the fit was key as the organisation was determined that selective education should close the gaps in social disadvantage, rather than widening them.
