Dear Candidate
Thank you for your interest in the position of Deputy Principal at Parkwood Hall.
It’s an exciting time at Parkwood Hall and you would be joining at a transformational time for the academy. This is a pivotal appointment in the next steps of our development.
I joined the academy in September 2022 and have found the staff to be welcoming and passionate about their work. The pupils are an inspiration. There is much to be done as we move into the next phase of our development and this role will be key in the strategic direction we are about to take.
Since joining, I have put in place a Positive Behaviour Support team and we are fully signed up to its values and ethos. I believe PBS often comes naturally to great leaders but puts a framework around these attributes. You will need to be fully subscribed to its benefits and values.
The academy is one of a small collection of schools that has a residential provision. Whilst there are residential leads who oversee the operational needs of the boarding house, this role would support the strategic direction, with the ultimate ambition of making it outstanding. Having introduced PBS this academic year, we are looking to embed this across the whole school over the next two to three years.
The experienced PBS team are laying the foundations of great practice and will work with the deputy principal to embed this in every corner of the school. The new postholder will need to help with improving the fundamentals whilst having one eye on the future development of the school, its systems and its outreach.
All our staff must be kind. None more so than in this role. There will be a great deal of interaction with parents who are equally passionate about the best possible life chances for their children. The person selected for this role must be both operational and strategic, as well as be willing to work towards our vision of improving the quality of life of all our community.
