Dear Candidate
Thank you for your interest in the position of Deputy Principal at Parkwood Hall Cooperative Academy.
It’s an exciting time at Parkwood Hall and you would be joining at a transformational time for the academy, being a pivotal appointment in the next steps of development.
I joined the academy in September and have already found the staff to be welcoming and passionate about their work. The pupils are an inspiration. There is much to be done as we move into the next phase of our development and this role will be key in the strategic direction we are about to take.
Since joining, I have put in place a Positive Behaviour Support team and we are fully signed up to its values and ethos. I believe PBS often comes naturally to great leaders but puts a framework around these attributes. You will need to be fully subscribed to its benefits and values.
The curriculum has undergone radical change under the previous leadership. It is now in a very strong place, with stretch, challenge and rigour. We now need to take this to the next phase, focusing on maintaining the quality that has been embedded over the last three years but also looking to the future to expand the offer, developing more life opportunities on our extensive site.
The next Deputy Principal at Parkwood Hall Cooperative Academy will understand the recruitment pressures across the industry and will look at creative ways to support and retain great teachers. This role will focus on the experience that the students get in the classroom. Supported by three Assistant Principals, they will drive excellence, understanding that great learning in a SEN school requires pupils to be ready to learn. They will work closely with the Deputy Principal for Pastoral to make sure that all the support is in place to ensure that each and every pupil is ready to access the extensive curriculum.
All our staff must be kind. None more so than in this role. There will be a great deal of interaction with parents who are equally passionate about the best possible life chances for their children. The person selected for this role must be both operational and strategic, as well as be willing to work towards our vision of improving the quality of life of all our community.
