Overview of role

Welcome letter from the Executive Principal, Longley Park Sixth Form Academy

Thank you for considering joining our Longley Park Sixth Form Academy team within Brigantia Learning Trust. As a Sixth Form Academy, we are all about providing an amazing place for 16–19-year-olds to study and this role provides an opportunity to work with people who share your passion. We will provide you with the opportunity to develop new skills and contribute to an ambitious, caring and vibrant community of young people.

We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to become a senior leader at Longley Park Sixth Form Academy. You will be joining a team of staff dedicated to improving the life chances of young people by providing the best environment in which they can flourish academically and personally.

Our Sixth Form Academy is committed to providing high-quality education to students, empowering them to achieve their full potential regardless of background or prior attainment. Situated in North East Sheffield, we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive environment where every student feels supported and valued. The successful candidate should have experience working in disadvantaged communities and an excellent track record of achievement and innovation throughout their successful teaching career.

Working in an area of disadvantage provides challenges and significant opportunity for the right candidate to make a real impact on young people’s opportunities. The Academy is a driver of social mobility and through teaching and supportive pastoral support teams identifies students’ barriers to success and puts interventions in place to support them to be successful and achieve a positive destination.

If you are an ambitious, inspirational, creative, dedicated leader and want to be part of our team then we want to hear from you. We will expect you to have a proven track record of impact in whole academy improvement and in driving standards with teaching and learning.

In this role, you will face the challenge of addressing the variability of educational experiences among students. Coming from a wide range of backgrounds, many of our students have encountered obstacles in their educational journey which we support them to overcome. As Vice Principal, you will play a vital role in providing targeted support and interventions to bridge the gap and ensure every student has an equal opportunity to succeed. Whether it’s implementing tailored academic support programs, advocating for additional resources, or fostering a supportive learning environment, you’ll be instrumental in creating pathways to success for our students.

Candidates should have previous experience working with students to overcome barriers to education, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds or with lower prior attainment. Further, they will have demonstrated expertise in implementing quality processes and systems to enhance the overall educational experience. Strong leadership skills, including experience of driving change management initiatives and overseeing whole academy quality improvement across the breadth of a provision.

We are looking for a dynamic professional with a proven track record of success and a genuine desire to play a pivotal role in the strategic development of the Academy. This role will allow the suitable candidate to have strategic oversight over all aspects of curriculum and pastoral delivery, as well as further developing quality assurance and teaching and learning across the Academy. Applications are welcomed from leaders seeking their first Vice Principal role or from experienced Vice Principals looking for a new and exciting challenge.

Our expectations are high. We are committed to staff development and providing opportunities to further your career, both at the Sixth Form and within the Trust. If you want a role that will be challenging, fulfilling and developmental, this is it.
